  • The West Michigan Umpire Association, along with Elite softball of Grand Rapids, proudly bring you the annual West Michigan Umpire One Day Softball Clinic.

    When: Saturday November 23 2019 from 1pm – 7pm

    Where: State of the art Elite Training Facility. 5930 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509

    Cost: Non Member $50

    What you get: Individualized plate (cage) work. We recommend you bring a phone or other recording device to be videoed. Controlled live base and plate drill work, classroom session with rule interpretation and rule changes, and instruction from current NCAA umpires, including a CWS veteran. Water will be provided.

    Instructors:

    Bryan Smith: Wendelstedt Umpire School, Over 40 years of High School Softball experience, Over 35 years of NCAA College experience at the D-I, II, & III levels. Have Umpired in ASA/USA National Championships, MHSAA High School Finals, NAIA National Championship, NCAA Division I Regional, Super Regional, World Series and at the International Level. I have been an evaluator at the MHSAA State Finals for over the past ten years. Currently the USA Softball of Michigan Umpire in Chief.

    Rick Havercroft: Currently working D1, D2, D3, NAIA college softball. Two time NCAA D2 National Championships, 6 NAIA National Championships, 4 D1 Regionals, 3 D2 Regionals, 2 MHSAA Softball finals, 46 yr. MHSAA Official, Mid-American Conference Coordinator of Softball Umpires 2005-2014

    Michael Brown: 30 years of softball experience and 20 of college softball, conference tournaments Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference 2016 and 2018, Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association 2017, Michigan High School State Finals 2017, currently on conference rosters of ACC, Big East, MAC, GLIAC, MIAA, WHAC and Ivy League. 2017 DIII NCAA Regional, 2018 DII NCAA Regional.

    Classroom instruction by several WMUA members.
